One of the most amazing things about living out here in the mountains is the wildlife. It is also, at times, one of the most terrifying. Today was a good critter day so I’m running with it. While he was finishing up the lawn, my husband found this little box turtle along our back retaining wall.
My toddler could not have been more thrilled. He tried, so generously, to feed him “weafs” and wanted to bring him inside. My husband explained to him that it might have eggs and needed to go care for the turtle babies. The boy seemed satisfied with that reasoning and finally agreed to let him go. I cannot help but wonder if it is the same turtle they rescued from the middle of the road last year. Probably not, but it’s a nice thought.
